Influenza claims one more life in Bahawalpur
One more patient died of influenza in Bahawalpur on Friday taking the death toll to 7 in a month.
The patient was under treatment in an isolation ward of Victoria Hospital, where four others are admitted being suspects of the disease.
According to hospital sources, the patient died was Iqbal Bibi, 50. Two patients, out of four, are diagnosed positive and the report of other two is being awaited.
Meanwhile, the death toll in Multan last month was 21. Around 31 patients in Multan’s Nishtar Hospital are reportedly affected by the disease.
Sources said that around 80 patients of influenza, out of 152, have been tested positive in Multan. Residents from Bahawalpur and Multan have consistently raised concerns over lack of facilities to fight the disease.
Chief Minister Punjab Shehbaz Sharif has already taken notice of the spreading disease and directed the relevant authorities to take all possible measures for the prevention. He also advised them to organise awareness campaign regarding the illness.
