Supreme Court on Tuesday declared a contempt of court petition against PPP Senator Rehman Malik maintainable and issued him notice seeking his reply in this regard.

A three-member bench of apex court presided over by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar took up the petition for hearing filed by Mehmood Akhtar Naqvi.

The petitioner took the plea that Rehman Malik defied the court orders when he was disqualified by the Supreme Court in dual nationality case and was told to return all perks and privileges obtained or enjoyed during the period.

Rehman Malik had not returned the perks and privileges, the petitioner argued. The chief justice remarked that Malik was required to return all perks and privileges as per court’s decision. The court declared the petition maintainable and issued notice to Rehman Malik asking him to reply in this regard.
