The anti-graft body is likely to start a probe against the CDA officials for their alleged involvement in corruption worth billions of rupees, said the sources.
Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Monday dispatched a report on alleged irregularities and misuse of authority in five major departments of the civic body to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
Daily Morning Mail has learnt that the requested probe is directed against land, enforcement, transport and sanitation departments’ officials for their alleged involvement in billion of rupees corruption.
An official on condition of anonymity said that CDA Land Department officers, identified as former deputy directors Nadeem Abro, Abdusalam Shah and Muhammad Saleem Raja committed Rs1 billion corruption by selling plots illegally in a posh sector of the federal capital. They committed the alleged acts of corruption between 2013 and 2015.
Likewise, CDA Sanitation Department Director Sardar Khan and Deputy Director Maskeen Kazmi allegedly grabbed Rs200 million in the sale and purchase of the department’s vehicles. Moreover, CDA Enforcement Department former director has allegedly committed corruption worth billions through the sale of CDA’s land.
The former director of enforcement department had also been punished for his corrupt practices earlier through a decision sending him behind the bars. It is the second time when an inquiry has been requested against him.
The report has been dispatched to NAB after FIA completed the inquiry against him.
The PML-N government had initiated an inquiry pertaining to irregularities in the CDA departments in 2013. Former federal minister Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) Tariq Fazal had initiated inquiries against alleged corrupt officers of his department.
The report states that the directors and deputy directors in CDA transport department had allegedly extracted Rs200 million from the exchequer.
Earlier in March this year, NAB had also arrested former chairman CDA)Imtiaz Inayat and ex-member finance Saeeduz Zaman for alleged corruption in the construction of the culture complex in Shakarparian.
