World Junior Squash Championship: 9-member team to leave for India on 18
A 9-member Pakistani contingent will feature in the WSF World Junior Mens’ (Individual and Team) Squash Championship to take place at Chennai, India from July 18 to 29.
The players participating in Individual and Team Event include Abbas Zeb, Muhammad Uzair, Haris Qasim, Farhan Hashmi while players to take part in the individual event only include Asad Ullah Khan and Uzair Shoukat, a press release Monday said.
The officials to accompany the team include Munawar Zaman (manager), Fazal Shah and Muhammad Yasin (coaches).
The players have proceeded to Karachi where they would be training at Pak Navy Roshan Khan Jahangir Khan Squash Complex for a period of one week, till departure to Chennai for the championship.
Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF) has also requested Squash legend Jahangir Khan to give some expert tips to players as to raise their game level for better performance during the championship.
The contingent will depart from Karachi to Chennai on July 14. Earlier taking to media Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF) Game Development Officer, Flight Lieutenant Aamir Iqbal said Foreign players from 6 countries will be participating in International Men and Women Squash tournaments to take place at Mushaf Squash Complex in September.
Chief of the Air Staff (COAS) International Men Squash and Pakistan International Women Squash tournaments will be played from September 10 to 15.
“The foreign players from 6 countries to participate in the tournaments include Hong Kong, Malaysia, Egypt, Iran, Thailand and Netherlands,” he said.
He said the Men’s event will have a cash award of US$ 30,000 while women’s event will be of worth US$ 10,000. “Top seed in men’s event will be Hong Kong’s Leo Au while Egypt’s Rowan will be the top seed in the female event,” he said.
