The former interior minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Monday called upon Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Model Town Lahore.

Both the leaders discussed the current political situation in the country and differences within the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N).

Nisar also informed the CM Nisar of his grievances related to some party leaders. They agreed to resolve disputes together.

Nisar said confrontation with institutions by no means is beneficial for democracy and national stability.

Shehbaz asserted that the PML-N had always talked about unity among institutions and would continue this policy however; every institution should work within its jurisdiction.

The meeting lasted for at least 45 minutes.

PML-N top brass is expected to make decision pertaining to political future of Nisar in the upcoming weeks, sources revealed.

Nisar, on the other hand, has expressed his desire to extend working relation with the party while making it clear that he would bid farewell to political career in PML-N if it becomes a proverbial ‘housemaid’.

While giving an interview to a private news channel, Nisar said decide about contesting the next election soon. He also cited fears that Shehbaz would not get the mandate to work comfortably.

The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chief Imran Khan made a telephone call to Chaudhry Nisar and invited him to join his party, sources revealed.

The PTI chairman said, “You have been friends with the Sharif family for too long, it’s about time you be friends with me.” Imran made this telephone call after Chaudhry Nisar’s strong stance against Nawaz Sharif.

Reports say that Imran told Nisar that Nawaz Sharif would not accept him in any case while Shehbaz prefers his brother Nawaz over him. “When there are such strong differences, what are you waiting for? Both brothers can never give the offices of PM and CM to anyone else.

We are childhood friends, have studied together, I have a greater right on you,” Imran said.

Sources said many issues were discussed during the telephonic conversation. The PTI chairman said, “If you agree to join the party, I will come to you with a formal invitation.” Chaudhry Nisar’s response was,  “You are my friend and I respect you but I can’t leave the party I devoted my life to”.

“I have some rules I assure you that if I decide to leave the PML-N, I will join PTI. I will be very happy because this party belongs to my childhood friend,” Nisar said. Imran said that general elections are around the corner, you can decide then.

To this, Nisar said that I can take very little or very long time to take this decision. Imran laughed over it and said, “I do not accept this ‘late’ thing.”

Sources said after the conversation, Imran told his friends that Nisar is my good friend and he will soon be a part of the PTI because the two avenues have been closed for him in the PML-N. NNI
