Illegal construction alongside Korang Nullah

Large scale illegal construction continues alongside the Korang Nullah as the relevant authority has failed to check its presence despite the several complaints that have been lodged.
The whole area along the Nullah is occupied by encroachers and recently 1,100 new houses have also been constructed through fake plotting.
Pakistan Meteorological Department has recently predicted a massive rain during the ongoing Monsoon and these illegal constructions could pose a serious threat to humans in this regard. New colonies including Barma Town, Ghori Town, Zia Masjid and Sohan would also be in danger if the water level exceeds normal.
The Daily Morning Mail has learnt that owner of Qazi Enterprises had encroached the area from Sanam Chowk to Ghuri Town and sold out thousands of plots without any documentation.
It is worth mentioning that a committee of officials from the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT), Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Small Dams Division had found that there are large encroachments on both sides of the Nullah.
People have filled in the bed of the nullah and built gardens and roads, the report said.
Encroachments in Nullah Korang were highlighted in the court last year in August. On directions of the court, the ICT administration and CDA survey department had conducted the demarcation in March this year.
In April this year, the Supreme Court has ordered an action against illegal constructions along the Korang Nullah in Banigala, which are impeding its flow and contributing to pollution in Rawal Lake, and sought a report within two weeks. Chief Justice Pakistan took a suo motu notice on unchecked construction in Banigala and sewage polluting Rawal Lake.
