SC reserves judgment in PTV MD appointment case

A two member bench of the Supreme Court (SC) headed by Chief Justice Saqib Nisar on Thursday reserved judgment in former Chairman PTV Attaul Haq Qasmi’s appointment case.

During the hearing it was revealed that the Prime Minister’s house also recommended Rs15, 00, 000 pay for Qasmi.

The court has directed to submit the record of the recommendations and to take immediate steps to call Ishaq Dar back to Pakistan.

Earlier today, SC resumed the hearing of the case and expressed resentment over Ishaq Dar’s absence despite court’s last notice.

The CJP heard former Pakistan Television (PTV) chairman Attaul Haq Qasmi appointment case and inquired about Ishaq Dar’s presence but he once again failed to appear before the court.

CJP Nisar directed the Interior Secretary to take immediate steps to call Ishaq Dar back to Pakistan as majority people have completed their arguments.

He said that Ishaq Dar remained in contact with former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in London but not responding to the court summons.

The top judge inquired that who instructed to pay Attaul Haq Qasmi Rs15, 00, 000 as monthly income. “Was he eligible for this?” he questioned.

National Accountability Bureau (NAB) officials are present in the courtroom, the case would be handed over to NAB to investigate either the appointment was legal or not, he continued.

Former finance secretary of Pakistan told the court that Attaul Haq Qasmi’s pay summary was sent by information ministry and relative wing reviewed it.

According to the pay summary, ex-MD PTV was receiving Rs 14, 00, 000 paycheck, he added.

On Ishaq Dar return issue secretary interior told that it is necessary to issue show cause notice for the cancellation of passport. Later the court reserved the judgment of the case.
