Caretaker Prime Minister Mulk forwards summary to convene session on Aug 13




After the support of Balochistan National Party and Jamhoori Watan Party, the head of Pakistan Tehreek-i- Insaf Imran Khan is set to become leader of the house in national assembly.

Meanwhile, caretaker PM Nasirul Mulk has advised the president to summon the first session of the national assembly on Monday August 13.

National Assembly Secretariat has completed preparations to welcome to new members, security arrangements have been finalised as well, while new kits would be given to elected members consisting copy of the constitution, rules of procedure, file cover etc.

Sources told ‘Daily Morning Mail’ that elected members will take oath in the first session Speaker NA Ayaz Sadiq would administer the oath.

After this the members would sign the role, then speaker would announce the procedure of election of speaker and deputy speaker under clause 91 of the constitution, election of speaker will be held through secret ballot.
Opposition has nominated the Syed Khursheed Shah as its candidate while PTI and allies parties have yet to decide their candidate; Arif Alvi and Shah Mehmood Qureshi are in the race.
After the election of the speaker, the outgoing speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq would take oath from newly-elected speaker and new speaker then announces the procedure of the election of the deputy speaker and the after election he would take oath from deputy speaker.

The newly-elected speaker would conduct the election of prime minister under article 91 (4) for this PTI candidate would be Imran Khan and opposition candidate will be Shehbaz Sharif.

The election of the prime minister will be held through the division of the members and the candidate gets the 172 votes will be declared prime minister.

The PTI spokesman Fawad Chaudhry claimed that PTI now had the support of 180 members which were more than enough from absolute majority and Imran will be elected prime minister in first phase of voting, he claimed. ENDS
