HC Bisaria says a new wave of optimism has hit India after Modi’s phone call to Imran
Indian High Commissioner (HC) Ajay Bisaria on Friday called on Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan at his Bannigala residence to felicitate him on the success of his party during general election 2018.
According to the sources, the prime minister (PM) in-waiting Imran highlighted the need to restart dialogue between Pakistan and India to solve all outstanding issues including Kashmir.
A senior PTI leader Shireen Mazari said in a tweet that Imran also expressed his concerns over the human rights violations by India in held Kashmir. Moreover, Mazari who was present in the meeting said that Imran also voiced the hope that the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) Summit will be held soon in Islamabad. The Indian HC said post the Modi phone call to Imran, there was a new wave of optimism in India that relations would move forward positively.
A statement from the PTI said the Indian HC expressed the hope of a positive era in the ties between the two countries.
The Indian PM had also telephoned Imran following the overwhelming success of his party in the general election last week.
PM Modi during his phonic conversation had expressed good wishes for Imran and said India was ready to start a new era of relations with Pakistan.
The two countries would have to adopt a joint strategy to move forward, he added.
The PTI Chairman had told Modi that since wars and bloodshed created tragedies, efforts should be made to resolve the issues through dialogue. The two countries would have to make joint efforts to retrieve the poor masses from the merciless clutches of poverty, he added.
Mazari also posted a picture of the HC along with the PTI Chief in which he presented Imran a cricket bat signed by the Indian cricket team.
Meanwhile, the PTI Senator and Chairman Standing Committee on Info-Broadcasting and Additional Secretary Information Faisal Javed Khan, in a tweet said Cricket legends from India and Kaptaan’s old friends Kapil Dev, Sidhu and Sunil Gavaskar have been invited to attend oath-taking ceremony of Pakistan’s PM Imran, slated for August 18.
