AIOU to start gardening course

Staff Report

Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) will soon launch a thorough training course for gardeners as part of its efforts to promote the ‘Green Pakistan’ campaign.

“It will be a four-month training course and anyone interested in gardening could participate in the course. The programme is designed in a way that it will equip the participants with an enhanced ability to make their surroundings greener and nicer,” the university said.

Under the initiative, an updated version of training in gardening will be provided to plant-lovers and professional gardeners.

Moreover, the varsity has recently developed AIOU botanical garden, which accommodates a well-developed rose garden as well as a couple of greenhouses. A number of other projects including a ‘Cactus Garden’ are underway to promote greenery and vegetation, the university said.
