The number of confirmed dengue positive cases has reached 36 as hospitals continue to receive patients for suspected dengue fever.

“A total of 36 patients have been tested positive for dengue fever in Holy Family Hospital, Benazir Bhutto Hospital and District Headquarters Hospital,” health officials said.

According to the health officials, the situation was under control as the city has not witnessed the dengue outbreak on a large scale.

As many as 874 schools in Rawal Town, Chaklala, and Potohar Town have been declared sensitive for dengue.

Sources said that lack of surveillance, the manpower and the late start of vector-related activities have contributed to the dengue breakout.

In 2014, as many as 1,212 cases of dengue fever were registered as compared to 3,194 in 2015. In 2016 it reached 1,160, however, it decreased to 334 in 2017.
