NA-63 by-polls: PML-N to hold rallies in Taxila, Wah today

Staff Report

As part of the campaign for NA-63 Rawalpindi by-polls, former prime minister Nawaz Sharif will address public rallies in Taxila and Wah Cantt on Thursday (today).

The by-elections on various national and provincial assembly seats are scheduled for October 14.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Barrister Aqeel Malik is contesting the by-polls on the NA-63 seat.

A meeting of PML-N local leaders and workers was held at Haji Umer Farooq’s office in Taxila which took into account the arrangements for the public rallies to be addressed by the former premier and other party leaders.

PML-N sources said that Sharif along with his daughter Maryam Nawaz and Opposition Leader in Punjab Assembly Hamza Shahbaz will address the public gatherings in connection with the election campaign for the party candidate.

Farooq said that arrangements had been finalised for the public show of the Sharif and his daughter after they were bailed out by a high court suspending their conviction in the Avenfield reference.

The PML-N local chapter has set up committees at every union council to mobilise the public to give a warm welcome to the Sharifs. According to the sources, party workers had been directed to double their efforts to pull out a maximum crowd to make the rallies a success.
