Senate adopts report on conduct of free, fair polls

Senate Standing Committee on Interior Chairman Senator Rehman Malik Wednesday moved a motion for adoption of the fourth and final report on ‘’Holding of Free, Fair and Transparent General Elections- 2018 and its Security’’ in Senate.

The report was unanimously adopted by the Upper House. Senate Chairman Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani appreciated Senator Rehman Malik for his tireless ef orts in probing and compiling the comprehensive report on July 25 general elections.

Rehman Malik said ‘’ I am grateful to the Chairman Senate for reposing his confidence in me and the Members
of the Senate Standing Committee on Interior by nominating the Committee to oversee and monitor the conduct of free, fair and transparent/security of the General Elections, 2018’’. He said The Committee expresses
its satisfaction on the constitution of Parliamentary Commission consisting of Members from both House of the
Parliament, as per the earlier recommendation in all of the Reports. Malik informed the House that on the direction of Senate Standing Committee on Interior, the Election Commission of Pakistan has asked the Director General Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to conduct the forensic audit for confirmation of a voice message regarding failure of Result Transmission System (RTS).

He later briefed the media outside Parliament House about the ‘Final Report on Election- 2018’. He said that
pursuing the orders of the Chairman Senate dated 12th July, 2018 and keeping in view the escalating threats of  he terrorism across the country, the Senate Standing Committee on Interior had held a high powered meeting on 19th July, 2018 by inviting all the stakeholders.

“The meeting of 19th July was attended by Secretary Interior, Secretary Defence, Secretary Election Commission of Pakistan, National Coordinator NACTA, all Chief Secretaries, Chairman PTA, Chairman NADRA, Home Secretaries all I.G.Ps.
