Residents of Sector G-13 have expressed their anguish over the dilapidated condition of roads and streets as the authorities concerned have turned a deaf ear to their incessant complaints, demanding to carry out repair work on the infrastructure.

According to sources, the residents have repeatedly complained about the issue but Capital Development Authority and the Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad authorities were giving them verbal assurances without carrying out the necessary maintenance work.

The residents said that the possession of plots in the sector had taken place and over 60 percent of houses have been constructed, the roads and streets have not been carpeted.

The residents said that the unpaved roads were damaging their vehicles. They said that they have to pass through dirt and mud during the rain.

The Federal Government Employees Housing Foundation (FGEHF) Islamabad and the CDA claimed to have collaborating to address the problems facing the residents but on the ground, they have failed to carry out the development work.

A spokesperson for the FGEHF said that tenders for the road construction were awarded a few months ago but the work could not be started for various reasons.

“The FGEHF has overcome the problem of water supply which is being supplied twice or sometimes thrice a week,” he said adding that the situation would improve in the upcoming days. APP
