The Islamabad Police has failed to comply with the directions of the Interior Minister regarding a change of influential Station House Officers (SHOs).

Minister of State for Interior Shehryar Khan Afridi directed former Inspector General (IG) Islamabad Jan Muhammad Khan to change the SHOs and investigation officials of the operation division, and replace them with security and traffic division officers.

The Minister gave the order for replacement during his first visit to the Police Headquarters and the former IG assigned the task to a committee headed by DIG Security Waqas Chohan. However, complaints regarding the involvement of corrupt SHOs in the committee’s matters surfaced the very next day.

The Minister then sent a message to the former IG for the formation of a new committee. DIG Operation Faisal Rahi was appointed as head of the new committee which included SSP Operations, AIG Establishment and AIG Special Branch.

However, the change of SHOs has still not occurred and the concerned officials are allegedly pressurizing the new committee regarding their desired postings.

The issue is now under the concern of newly-appointed IG Islamabad Amir Zulfiqar, and it will be up to him to take immediate action.
