NAB grills Hamza in assets beyond means case

Bureau team also seized assets of Shehbaz Sharif’s son-in-law Imran Ali



Son of Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif, Hamza Shehbaz, appeared before the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) officials here on Friday.

Hamza appeared before the accountability watchdog in a case pertaining to owing assets beyond.

The anti-graft body had summoned Hamza and his brother Salman Shehbaz to appear before the bureau, however, the latter could not come as he was currently in London.

According to the sources, three deputy directors of the NAB from the intelligence, prosecution and investigation wings interrogated Hamza.

Punjab assembly opposition leader Hamza was alleged in another case pertaining to financial irregularities in the Saaf Pani Company. He also had recorded his statement with the bureau in the Saaf Pani scam.

On the other hand, the bureau team has seized the assets of Shehbaz Sharif’s son-in-law Imran Ali.

According to the NAB spokesperson, Imran owned properties worth millions of rupees which included a house and offices in Ali Tower and Ali Apartment. In addition to this, he was accused in taking millions of rupees as bribery. However, Imran had fled abroad fearing arrest by the anti-graft body.

Shehbaz has been under the custody of the bureau for his alleged involvement in Ashiyana-i-Iqbal housing project scam worth Rs14 billions. NNI
