Prime Minister Imran Khan on Saturday once again refuted reports regarding giving NRO (National Reconciliation Ordinance) and asserted, “No one will get an NRO.”

Addressing the public gathering after inaugurating Plant for Pakistan campaign at Balloki near Sheikhupura, he said “Those who are speculating that we will give NRO to anyone should understand that it will be equivalent to treason and disloyalty to the country,” he added.

PM Imran explained, “NRO is forgiving very big suspects. Two NROs destroyed the country and our current circumstances are owing to that.”

“One NRO was given by General (retd) Pervez Musharraf to Nawaz Sharif. A case was ready against the Sharif brothers pertaining to the Hudaibiya Paper Mills and Ishaq Dar’s confessional statement regarding how money laundering was done was also present. However, to save his own seat, Musharraf gave Nawaz an NRO and let him leave for Saudi Arabia” the premier further stated.

“On the other hand, Rs2 billion from the national exchequer were spent on Asif Zardari’s Swiss case and there was a Surrey Mansion case in London which the Pakistan government won and the country was to get the money, however, an NRO was signed and that case was closed.”

PM Imran said that we will undertake massive plantation across Pakistan after the retrieval of lands from the grabbers and convert them into forests.

He planted a sapling at Balloki to launch the drive, where he was also briefed about the tree plantation drive.

Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that the government is set to plant ten billion trees all over the country during the next five years aimed at eliminating pollution and making Pakistan green. Pakistan’s forests would be protected at all costs, he added.

He said that there is an acute shortage of forests in Pakistan as the country is at the 8th number among the countries with forest covers in the world.  He said government is taking serious measures for reforestation in the country.

PM Imran expressed regret over the elimination of forests in Changa Manga, Mian Chunnu and Kundian by the land grabbers and vowed to reclaim these lands and convert them into forests.

While addressing the crowd, Prime Minister Khan announced that his government will also create a wildlife reserve under Baba Guru Nanak’s name and that Nankana Sahib will also become home to the Baba Guru Nanak University.

He said that the pollution is aggravating in Pakistan day by day and if the solid measures are not taken on time, our next generation will suffer a lot due to excess of pollution.

Prime Minister urged the youth to widely participate in the plantation campaign to make it a success to materialize the dream of green and pollution-free Pakistan.
