CTP adds over Rs21.7m to national kitty

City Traffic Police (CTP) Rawalpindi has awarded 57,168 challan tickets and imposed Rs 21.7 million fine to the violators in January 2019.

CTP impounded 570 vehicles and 2,056 motorcycles into different police stations for not having proper documentation.

Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Muhammad Bin Ashraf in a statement on Monday said that traffic police issued 1297 tickets to the vehicles using tinted glasses.

Similarly, CTP issued 913 challan tickets to vehicles, parked wrongly.

He said that without number plate and applied for 1755 vehicles were issued tickets. Some 620 vehicles and motorcycles were issued traffic tickets owing to reckless and carelessness driving.

1274 challan tickets were issued to the Public Service Vehicles and on the violation of routes.

He said that under juvenile driving, CTP issued 1040 tickets to the violators.

He said that CTP issued 1511 tickets for listening mobile phone during driving. 2453 vehicles and motorcycles were issued challan tickets without driving license, he added.

On the violation of traffic signal, 1391 vehicles were issued tickets and 657 tickets were issued on the violation of Zebra crossing.

CTP urged motorists to cooperate with the traffic police so that the traffic problems could be solved.
