Police officer deployed on polio duty killed

An Assistant Sub-inspector (ASI) of KP police deployed at a basic health unit in Bannu for security of polio workers during anti-polio drive was shot dead on Tuesday by unknown assailants while he was on his way to work.
The incident took place in suburbs of the main town of Bannu where armed sprayed bullets at Hawaldar Imran Khan while he was on his way to join duty.
As a result of firing, the police officer was killed on the spot and the attackers fled the scene after committing murder.
The incident was the outcome of personal grudge and the police after registering a case against the murderers have started raids for their arrest.
KP Chief Minister Mahmood Khan has also taken notice of the incident and asked for a report on the incident from the provincial inspector general of police. Khan said that they share the pain of the victim’s family and added that the suspects will promptly be brought to justice.
