The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday served notices to the respondents in a petition challenging the eligibility of Minister for Religious Affairs Noor ul Haq Qadri as member National Assembly (MNA).

Petitioner Hazrat Hussain and Shah Nawaz stated in their plea that Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had ignored the facts and rejected their complaint against the MNA.

The petition alleged that Mr. Qadri had been government’s defaulter when he submitted his nomination papers to ECP.

The MNA had submitted incomplete documents to electoral body, they alleged.

The petitioners prayed the court to set aside the decision of ECP and direct the same to hear their complaint again against the minister’s eligibility.

After hearing the arguments, Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb sought reply from respondents and adjourned the case.
